Our cave-kid found his voicebox!!!!!
I was almost blown right off my pet rhino when Bumi, our cave-kid who came to us through a magical portal from 40,000 years ago, started talking out loud. Usually he whispers very softly in my ear becuase he lost his voice-box while time-traveling in the magical portal.
And what do you think cavekids from 40,000 years ago want to talk about when they discover their voice boxes are working?
Well they want to talk about tomato sauce! Crazy right? But it’s true.
It was hard for me to concentrate on putting my pet rhino back into her pen, because all of a sudden I had this talking cave-kid running around my feet, talking about tomato sauce and how to use an ancient paleolithic recipe to make it.
Which is lucky for you, because now we can share with you that secret paleo recipe so you can make it in your very own modern day kitchens…hooray!
* 1 kg tomatoes
* 1 tsp dried basil
* 1 tsp dried oregano
* 1 tsp chili (optional)
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1/4 cup lemon juice
* 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1.) Put a large pot of water onto the stovetop to boil.
2.) Get a large bowl of iced water ready.
3.) Using a sharp knife, score a cross into the bottom of all your tomatoes (see YouTube clip for example).
4.) Place tomatoes into boiling water for one minute.
5.) Drain tomatoes and put straight into iced water. This helps the skins start to peel away from the tomato flesh where you scored them (see YouTube clip for example).
6.) Take out each tomato and peel off the skin.
7.) Put tomatoes into a blender and blend until your desired consistency.
8.) Pour your blended tomatoes into a medium saucepan.
9.) Add the remaining ingredients and simmer on your stove top for 45 minutes. You can simmer it for a shorter time if you like, however the longer you leave it the more concentrated the flavours become.
10.) Serve with your favourite meats and foods or use in your favourite bolognaise sauce.
