It’s the year 2014 (in case you were wondering) and I’ve been pondering these contradictory questions relating to the Paleo migration that’s wandered into our modern day.

INITIAL QUESTION

Why are so many people returning to an ancestral/Paleolithic way of eating?

CONTRADICTORY QUESTION

If so many people are willing to adopt this way of eating, why don’t they adopt our ancestor’s way of living too?

Would you return to a life living wildly in nature where there was no such thing as electricity, wireless internet, running hot water and espressos? Probably not…well unless you have clinical lycanthropy and believe you can shape-shift into a wild animal. But I’m guessing there’s not too many “lycantrop-ists” out there.

So why are people willing to eat like a caveman, but not live like a caveman?

ANSWER TO INITIAL QUESTION

Well people are willing to eat like a caveman because the studies are in, the evidence is out there: a grain-free way of eating is absolutely amazing for our health. And you can read about this on websites such as www.robbwolf.com, www.marksdailyapple.com , etc.

ATTEMPT TO ANSWER CONTRADICTORY QUESTION

I’d actually like put it out there too, that many of us are starting to live like our ancestors. Not that we see people wearing loincloths, hunting domestic cats and sliding down Diplodocus tails, Fred Flinstone style. Nope I don’t see this, I wish I did though, as I think I’d rather like to slide down a friendly dinosaur’s tail.

What I mean, is that many of us are returning to a simpler way of being. A way where that which is natural, simple and authentic are becoming the foundations of a healthy life. I see this as evident in the recent popularity of yoga, mindfulness and meditation. The resurgence of the above three, is reason to tap dance round your nearest yogi in celebration.

HOW THIS RELATES TO RUMBLES PALEO

Here at Rumbles Paleo we encourage you all to return, and not just to a more natural way of eating. We encourage you to return to a more natural way of life.

How do you do this?
Easy.

You stick with what is real.

Our Paleo ancestors knew what was real and what wasn’t, and that which wasn’t real was inconsequential. Our Paleo ancestors did not get caught up in the make believe of hypotheticals (the what-ifs), self-comparisons, and guilt about past events or stress about future scenarios that mostly never eventuated. Nope, they just…got on with it.

So what is real in the modern world? Well there is only one thing. Can you guess what it is?

No it’s not your family and friends. Sad but true, they come and go.

No it’s not your body as it renews 98% of its cells every year (the good news here, is that you are only ever 1 year old!)

No it’s not your beliefs, some of us change those like our underwear.

What’s real is your spirit. Your soul. It’s been with you since before you were even born and it will linger even after you pass. In fact your spirit/soul is the only real thing that’s been around since the very beginning of the very beginning, even before wooly mammoths and cavemen.

So in adopting a Paleo lifestyle we encourage you to keep it real. Listen to your heart and the emotions in your belly (and not the monkey that makes up stories in your brain). It is through these channels that what is real, your soul and your spirit, will guide you to a life of ease and peace…yabba dabba yeah!!!
